The Bruckner Tour of Austria - August, 2018

The Bruckner Tour of Austria - August, 2018
I am happy to announce that the 2018 Bruckner Tour of Austria is officially on! The dates of the tour are August 11 - 21, 2018.

  • The tour is designed to allow people anywhere in the world to participate. You book your travel to be in Vienna on August 11th and the tour begins with a welcoming dinner at our Vienna hotel. In past years, we have enjoyed the company of people from the United States, Great Britain, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Turkey, Greece, India, Norway and New Zealand.

  • As in past years, we will visit Bruckner-related sites in Vienna, Linz, St. Florian, Ansfelden, Steyer, Enns, Windhaag, Kronsdorf, Melk, Klosterneuberg and Krems. For this tour, we will add visits to Hoersching, Leonding and Bad Kreuzen.

  • By "following in Bruckner's footsteps," you will have an opportunity to see many of the famous sites of Austria but also the beautiful countryside that was such an inspiration to Bruckner in his formative years. This will include a relaxing river cruise on the Danube from Duernstein to Melk.

  • Today, Bruckner's birth house in Ansfelden has been transformed into a wonderful Bruckner Museum and the tour will take you to locations that would be very difficult to visit on your own. This will include a visit to Bruckner's sarcophagus in the crypt of St. Florian, a small Bruckner museum in Kronstorf and a rare opportunity to see Bruckner's actual manuscripts with visits to the Austrian National Library and Kremsmuenster Abbey where these priceless documents are stored.

  • The tour will also include three concerts from the 2018 BrucknerTage Festival at St. Florian - including performances of the Symphony No. 7 for two pianos and one (of course!) for full orchestra - performed in the Saint Florian Basilika.

The tour has been confirmed so for those of you who have already signed up, it is time to make your travel plans. If you have not yet signed up, I hope you will join us.
