Ebrach Summer Music Schedule for 2024 is announced
Bruckner's monumental Ninth Symphony will be performed in the abbey church of Ebrach (Frankonia, Germany) on the occasion of Bruckner's 200th birthday – that is immediately before the composer’s anniversary – with the final movement completed by Gerd Schaller. The concert is scheduled for Sept 1st 2024.

Renowned Bruckner-expert and conductor Gerd Schaller has been working with the sketches and completed score pages of the final movement of Bruckner's Ninth symphony for decades and has a wealth of experience in both the creation and the performance of the completed final movement fragment.

He is now incorporating his latest groundbreaking studies into the revised final movement, which he will present together with his orchestra Philharmonie Festiva in a newly revised 2024 version. For this version Schaller has succeeded in closing the gap in the great fugue completely with Bruckner's own material. He is also striving for even greater concentration and clarity in the orchestration. Finally, the Apotheosis was completely revised once again.

This process of working is actually resemblant to Bruckner's own practice of composition – after all, Bruckner repeatedly revised a number of his symphonies. The concert, which takes place in co-operation with Bayerischer Rundfunk – Studio Franken (Bavarian Broadcasting – Studio Frankonia), is part of a unique project with the aim of performing and recording all of Bruckner’s symphonies in all versions, including the so-called intermediate versions.

Furthermore Gerd Schaller and the Philharmonie Festiva will perform also Bruckner’s third Symphony in the 1877 version April, 7th in Bad Kissingen (Bavaria) and the famous Symphony No. 8 in the 1890 version in the abbey church of Ebrach on July, 14th 2024. All 2024 concerts will be broadcasted by Bayerischer Rundfunk and will also be released on CD as well as for download and streaming by the German classical label PROFIL Edition Günter Hänssler.
