The Barenboim Bruckner Cycle at Carnegie Hall (January 19-29)

The Barenboim Bruckner Cycle at Carnegie Hall (January 19-29)
For eleven days in January, patrons of Carnegie Hall in New York were treated to a cycle of Bruckner symphonies as performed by Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin. A nice article on the cycle was prepared by National Public Radio and can be found here.

Quite a few devoted Brucknerians have made the pilgrimage to New York to witness all or part of this event. Most of the Board of Directors of the Bruckner Society of America attended not only to enjoy the concerts but to present a Bruckner Society Medal of Honor to Daniel Barenboim. That presentation took place at a post-concert reception on Saturday, January 21st.

Plans were also in place to present a Bruckner Medal to conductor Gerd Schaller, but those plans needed to be delayed due to the Maestro's bout with the flu.
