January 21st: The Symphony No. 3

January 21st: The Symphony No. 3
The Symphony Nr. 3 was paired with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24. Daniel Barenboim was the piano soloist.

As is his custom, Barenboim performed the 1878 second version of the symphony as edited by Fritz Oeser. This edition omits the coda at the end of the Scherzo.

At a post-concert reception held in the Shorin Club Room at Carnegie Hall, Maestro Barenboim was presented with the Bruckner Society of America's Julio Kilenyi Medal of Honor. The reception was attended by members of the Society.
