The Cristian Mandeal Bruckner Symphony Cycle

During the 1980s, Electrecord Records of Romania produced a series of recordings with Cristian Mandeal conducting the Clug-Napoca Philharmonic Orchestra. The series of recordings included an entire cycle of Bruckner Symphonies. Electrecord was aware of the special nature of this release and produced several of the recordings with glossy cover art and half-speed mastering. But Electrecord LPs were difficult to obtain in the West and while the specially produced LPs filtered through in small quantities, the other albums in the cycle were very hard to find. With the advent of the CD, Electrecord chose to release just one recording from the cycle on CD (No. 7). Now, the producers have gone back to the original tapes and have re-mastered them. In an exclusive arrangement with Electrecord of Romania, the entire Symphony cycle is offered here in loss-less audio downloads.
