CD - Symphony No. 4 (Scherzo only): Clemens Krauss / Vienna Philharmonic
Clemens Krauss recorded only the Scherzo of the Symphony No. 4 for The Gramophone Company. He used the Gutmann Edition which incorporates a truncated A section. Because of this, the dacapo A section had to be recorded as well (unlike many 78 rpm discs which usually have the A section recorded once and the user would be required to play that 78 side twice.
The label of the disc is off-white with the words "NOT FOR SALE" printed in red. Below the red lettering and on each side of the spindle hole it states,This record cannot be placed on sale until the question of copyright has been investigated and all necessary permission obtained. Below that, there is a glued label with the performance information and the reference number - different on each side of the disc. Since Side # 2 is longer (it contains the Trio and the second Scherzo) the label on the second side is smaller in diameter (72mm. vs. 80mm.).
Due to the special price and to keep postage to a minimum, the CD will be shipped in a thin jewel case and in a paper envelope. Anything larger and the postage cost doubles.
