Jacquard, Philippe: Furtwangler and the 1888 Version of the Bruckner Fourth

Philippe Jacquard of Concerts and Archives HD has published an essay on a somewhat controversial issue: why did Furtwängler perform the 1888 Version of this symphony rather than the Original Version published by Haas in 1936? Mr. Jacquard writes, "Newly discovered articles from an Austrian newspaper (September 1950) bring new information which, together with Furtwängler's own writings make it possible to follow his point of view on the subject and how it evolved in the course of time." In addition, a separate file is provided which contains copies of all the documents that were used in the preparation of this essay in their original language (German and English).
