Einojuhani Rautavaara: Symphony No. 3
Rautavaara's Symphony No 3 was composed in 1961 and from the very first bars it is cleaer that this work has been conceived in Bruckner's compositional style. Rautavaara even employs Bruckner's German titles for the symphonies four movements (Langsam, breit, ruhig; Langsam, doch nicht schleppand; Sehr schnell; and Bewegt. Recordings are available on the Ondine and Naxos labels.
