Senso (1954)

Senso (1954)
Luchino Visconti's "Senso" is a beautifully photographed film telling of an ill-fated love affair during the 1866 Italian uprising against Austria. Music from Bruckner's Symphony No 7 is used with excellent results. Only the first two movements are heard throughout the film. The performance was conducted by Franco Ferrara (1911-1985) and the Orchestra Sinfonica della Radiotelevisione Italiana. The score sections were apparently recorded specifically for the film. No full-length performance by Ferrara was ever released commercially. For more information about "Senso" via the Internet Movie Database, click here.
