Obviously, the item of importance here is the premiere performance of Bruckner's orchestration of the first movement of the Beethoven Piano Sonata. Bruckner orchestrated the sonata in August of 1862 while he was a pupil of Otto Kitzler. The exercise was written into what is now known as the Kitzler Study Book. While the existance of the Study Book has been known for years, it remained in private hands and no performances were permitted.

Recently, the Study Book was purchased by the Austrian National Library. With that purchase, a facsimile edition was published and performances were permitted.
