West Coast Brucknerthon announced

West Coast Brucknerthon announced
Ramón Khalona and Dave Griegel have sent me the following announcement:

Join us on Saturday, September 5, 2026 for the 28th annual San Diego County Bruckner Marathon. We'll play all eleven symphonies this year. As always, the setting will be informal, with plenty of food and drinks to keep us going. We’ll also have our usual CD exchange; those unwanted CDs of yours could be someone else’s treasure.

This year’s line-up includes a combination of live and studio recordings, ranging from recent to historic. Highlights include historic recordings of Symphonies 3 and 4, conducted by Jascha Horenstein and Bruno Walter, and near-historic recordings of Symphonies 1 and 7, conducted by Bernard Haitink and Paul Kletzki. We also celebrate the life of Christoph von Dohnányi with his recording of Symphony 6 with the Cleveland Orchestra.

Here are the selected recordings in the order in which they'll be played:
- Symphony in F minor: Davies/MDR Symphony Orchestra (Genuin Download, 2023)
- Symphony 0: Otaka/Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra (Fontec CD, 2024)
- Symphony 1 (1877): Haitink/Concertgebouw Orchestra (RCO Live CD, 1972)
- Symphony 2 (1877): Paavo Järvi/Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO Blu-Ray Audio, 2019)
- Symphony 3 (1877): Horenstein/BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (BBC Legends CD, 1963)
- Symphony 4 (1888): Walter/NBC Symphony Orchestra (Grand Slam CD, 1940)
- Symphony 5: Jochum/Staatskapelle Dresden (Tower Records Warner SACD, 1980)
- Symphony 6: Dohnányi/Cleveland Orchestra (Decca CD, 1991)
- Symphony 7: Kletzki/Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Janus CD, 1973)
- Symphony 8 (1890): Schaller/Philharmonie Festiva (Profil CD, 2024)
- Symphony 9: Skrowaczewski/Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra (Denon Blu-Ray, 2009)

When: Saturday, September 5, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM
Where: 9863 Fox Valley Way, San Diego, CA 92127
