August 14 - Duernstein - St. Florian

Today, our day began with a bus ride to the historic town of Duernstein. Here, high on a hillside are the ruins of a castle that was used by Leopold I to imprison Richard the Lionhearted.

From Duernstein, we took a 2 1/2 hour river cruise on the Danube to the town of Melk. In addition to a magnificent monastery, there is a small place commemorating Bruckner's frequent visits here.

From Melk, we then traveled to St Florian and a dinner at the Stiftskeller restaurant and then the organ concert in the Basilica.
