At its September board meeting, the trustees of the Bruckner Society of America voted unanimously to bestow the Society's Julio Kilenyi Medal of Honor to conductor Benjamin Zander.

The recognition came not only for the conductor's long history of advocating Bruckner's music, but for the fact that a public performance of the Symphony No. 8 was scheduled with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra for the opening event of their 2021-2022 concert season.

The medal was presented just prior to the performance on Friday, October 15th at Boston's historic Symphony Hall.
