January, 2012: Te Deum: Eugene Ormandy / Philadelphia Orchestra / Columbia
With the advent of the CD, there have been a few transfers from LP that have left works unreleased. Three such examples are William Steinberg's Overture which was paired on a two LP Command set with the Symphony No.7, Libor Pesek's Four Orchestral Pieces paired on a Supraphon LP with the Symphony No.7, and Eugene Ormandy's Te Deum which was paired in a Columbia boxed set with his recording of the Symphony No. 5. While the Fifth Symphony recording has been available on CD for years, the Te Deum has languished in the vaults.
