August, 2026: Symphony No. 1 / Ojan Durjan'narc / Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra

Ojan Durjan'narc (1922-2011) was an internationally recognized lecturer and conductor. His life was a complicated mixture of adoption, emigration and career frustrations. Rather then try to unravel his life here, it would be best to refer to his biography on Wikipedia. As he moved from country to country, even his name went through various iterations, including Ogan Durjan, Ojan Durjan'narc, and O.D'Narc. He made a few commercial recordings, but most of his work resides in radio archives. He released a series of instructional videos with only his head and hands showing while he conducted a variety of works, including symphonies by Anton Bruckner. This month, we will begin a series of his recordings that have found their way into the Bruckner Archive. We begin with Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 recorded by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in March of 1978.
