October, 2021: Symphony No. 9 / Peter Jan Marthe / Austrian Youth Orchestra

On August 18, 2000, Peter Jan Marthe conducted the Austrian Youth Orchestra at St Florian. It was billed as an "In Memoriam" concert for the late conductor, Sergiu Celibidache who had died four years earlier. The concert included an organ improvisation by Augustinus Franz Kropfreiter on the Bruckner Organ and Bruckner's Symphony No. 9. The concert was released on CD by the Youth Orchestra on the Classic New Edition label. Marthe was to record the Bruckner 9th again several years later with the European Philharmonic Orchestra. That recording included a Finale that Marthe claimed was dictated to him by the composer during a psychic encounter. It was released on the Preiser label.
