The Bruckner Archive recently acquired a letter written in 1914 by conductor Siegmund von Hausegger. Von Hausegger's name will forever be linked to the music of Anton Bruckner thanks to his premiere peformance of the Orel Edition of the Bruckner Symphony No. 9.

The letter (dated in Berlin on February 13, 1914 is a letter of recommendation written to (and for) Herr. A. Persinger. It reads as follows:

Herr Persinger was through one season the second concertmaster of the Blüthner Orchestra and was as such active in my Symphony Orchestra. He has fulfilled his duties in an excellent, diligent and reliable manner, and this is highlighted by his outstanding technical and musical ability.

I must emphasize the great zeal and earnestness with which Mr. Persinger fulfilled his task.

Siegmund v. Hausegger

My thanks to Dietmar Achenbach for his assistance in translating the letter.
