Bruckner Archive acquires a Franz Forster bronze plaque
This bronze plaque has an interesting history. Franz Forster was a noted sculptor and relief artist who lived in Vienna. He was approached by Max Auer to produce this plaque for the 1938 Bruckner Organ Festival. The relief was prepared, but the festival never took place. In 1946 the plaque was cast into bronze to be presented to donors for the reconstruction of the Bruckner Organ. But that agreement did not get finalized, so Forster later sold and gave away the plaques. It is listed in the Bruckner Ikonographie as IKO 279.
