Hansl, Eva: Minute Sketches of Great Composers

Hansl, Eva: Minute Sketches of Great Composers
This book, written by Eva v B. Hensl and Helen L. Kaufmann, was published by Grosset & Dunlap in New York in 1932. It devotes one page to 74 different composers - each with an essay and a sketch by Samuel Nisenson.

The essay on Bruckner is full of inaccuracies but it is memorable for its dismissive tone and the classic comment about Bruckner, "shambling along the street in ill-fitting, dusty clothes."

At least the sketch has some redeeming values.
