These program notes were taken from the Telefunken LP set containing the Bruckner Symphony No. 4 with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Paul van Kempen. They are included here for their historical nature but the reader should be warned that these notes follow the old Bruckner orthodoxy concerning the influence of his friends on the shape and orchestration of his scores.
