June, 2016: The First Recording of the Overture in G Minor
One usually associates first recordings of music by Bruckner to originate from Austria or Germany, but that was not the case with Bruckner's 1863 Overture in G Minor. The honors for that work belong to Sir Henry Wood and the Queen's Hall Orchestra.

The recording was made on April 2nd of 1937 by Decca Records. It was first released on a two disc 78 rpm set (Decca Album No. 7) that also included Glinka's Russlan and Ludmilla Overture.

It has subsequently been released on Beulah and Dutton CDs.
