June, 2012: Symphony No. 4 / Thomas Koncz / Gyor Philharmonic
Thomas Koncz is currently a professor in Vienna, but back in the 1980s and 90s he was conducting regional orchestras in Europe. The Bruckner 4th was one of his favorites and there are two recordings that were offered privately by orchestras. The first, from 1987 was offered as the March 2012 download. This month, it is the performance he recorded with the Gyor Philharmonic in Hungary. Except for the copy (clone) given to me, I have never seen this CD being offered anywhere. While the Southwest German Philharmonic used the Nowak edition in 1987, the Haas edition was used for this later recording.
