May, 2023: Symphony No. 5 / Michael Gielen / S0uthwest German Radio S.O. / Point Classics

This is the 5th and final offer in our series of Point Classics Bruckner releases. The label states that the conductor is Alberto Lizzio, which is a pseudonym. The actual conductor has been positively identified as Michael Gielen. As with many of these Point Classics releases, this recording has shown up on many different budget labels. All told, the company released recordings of Bruckner Symphonies 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9. The Symphony No. 9 recording will not be offered here. That one took an extraordinary amount of time to discover the real performers and numerous copies of that recording were purchased to see if any did not contain the movement 1 - movement 2 - movement 1 sequence error. None of them did. That recording is available as a CD and as a download.
