December 2010: Symphony in F Minor / Elyakum Shapirra / London S.O.
Soon after the Nowak score of Bruckner's Symphony in F Minor was published, Elyakum Shapirra recorded the work with the London Symphony Orchestra. The recording (coupled with the Overture in G Minor) was released in the UK and Europe by EMI and appeared in the US only as an "Odeon" import. Odeon was a label used by EMI when they decided to import rather than press the recordings for the US market. In Europe, EMI held the rights to the famous "His Master's Voice" logo, but in the US, those rights were then owned by RCA. So imported EMI records had little gold "Odeon" stickers placed over Nipper and his gramophone. The LP was short lived and it has never appeared on CD. The Overture in G Minor is the download for April, 2011.
