Live recording: October 11, 2023 / Tokyo Metropolitan Theater Concert Hall

?This is a live recording of a special concert held on October 11, 2023 (the anniversary of Bruckner's death!) The 9th, Bruckner's last symphony and an unfinished masterpiece, is included in the completed version with supplements by Yutaro Ishihara, who is at the forefront of Bruckner research. Since this is the supplementary version shown at this concert, it is of course the world's first recording. The performance is conducted by Kenjiro Sakairi, who deeply admires Bruckner's symphonies, and will be performed by the up-and-coming talented band Tacticart Orchestra, which was formed in 2020.

?The noteworthy fourth movement is constructed as a well-balanced finale, drawing on the flow up to the third movement and the remaining draft. At the end, a big concluding chord that sounds exactly like Bruckner sounds firmly. The booklet also includes Mr. Ishihara's explanation of the structure (In Japanese only).

?[The fourth movement has undergone many additions. Among these, the main purpose of this new addition is to present ``the fourth movement as easily as possible''. Without fear of misunderstanding, this completed edition is called ``Introduction to the 4th Movement of Symphony No. 9''. (From explanation by Yutaro Ishihara)]

Artist
Yutaro Ishihara (musicology/composition)
Born in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture. He started playing the double bass at the age of 12 and graduated from Tokyo College of Music, majoring in instrumental music. After graduating, he turned to musicology and completed the master's program in musicology research at the same university in 2016. His specialty is 19th century German and Austrian music, especially the analytical study of A. Bruckner's works. In my master's course, I will analyze Symphony No. 9 as a symphony consisting of four movements, entitled ``The overall structure of A. Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 - The existence of the fourth movement and its unknown function.'' Conducted research and received high praise. Currently, he is continuing his research in the doctoral program at Tokyo College of Music, trying to discover new characteristics of Bruckner's symphonies by analyzing the key structure of all his symphonies and manuscripts using his own unique method. In addition to his research, he is also actively engaged in writing for music fans, such as commentary on regular concerts by domestic orchestras and commentary on CD supplements. He is also active as a composer and won the 25th Asahi Composition Award in 2014. The winning piece was selected as the theme piece for the 2015 All Japan Wind Band Competition. He has studied double bass with Hiroshi Makuuchi and Yoshio Nagashima, composition with Masami Murata and Yutaka Fujiwara, and conducting with Akito Mihara. He also received training from Takashi Aragaki. He is a member of the International Bruckner Society, the American Bruckner Society, and the Musical Society of Japan.

He also received a lot of advice from Vladimir Fedoseyev and Yoshiyoshi Inoue. In 2008 he formed the Tokyo Juventus Philharmonic. He has welcomed famous soloists such as J. Demus, G. Poulet, and Izumi Tateno, and has also performed many Japanese and world premieres of his works. In 2016, he became music director of the Kawasaki Chamber Orchestra, a cutting-edge professional orchestra. In 2018, he made his first guest appearance with the Tokyo City Philharmonic, conducting Orff's "Carmina Burana" and leading the performance to success.
In 2020, Schoenberg's ``The Clown Possessed by the Moon'' was released by Nippon Columbia's new label Opus One. He has released many other recordings and has received high acclaim, including being selected as a special selection by Record Geijutsu magazine.
