Roberto Ferrazza publishes the fourth volume of his Bruckner Study
Roberto Ferrazza, Tecnica e concezione compositiva nel sinfonismo di Anton Bruckner (vol. IV): Il Finale della Nona sinfonia: un progetto incompiuto (parte III / 2), pp. IV-320 [Technique and compositional conception in Anton Bruckner's symphony – vol. IV: The Finale of the Ninth Symphony: An Unfinished Project (part III / 2)] In addition, Volume III/1 was published in 2018. Mr. Ferrazza states, "This work (in Italian language) is aimed solely at the analysis of all manuscripts of the Finale of the Ninth Symphony, as left to us by Bruckner, trying to examine the state of the autograph, highlight its characteristics, potential, degree and level of incompleteness and above all to detect the quality and value of the compositional choices of the Master, in relation to the quality and artistic value of the preceding movements; ultimately, to identify the formal and structural project that was to characterize the final movement of the Ninth Symphony according to the intention’s Bruckner, unfortunately hindered by his precarious health conditions, which worsened to such a point as to lead to his death, leaving the Finale unfinished. At the conclusion of this examination, in the Appendix, the transcription of the surviving score sheets has been inserted, to allow the reader to immediately verify the critical and analytical evaluations on the Brucknerian autograph." |
