The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is delighted to release the next instalment of its 2025/26 Digital Season this Thursday, 12 February 2026 at 1930hr.

From the multicoloured to the macabre: Jay Capperauld’s Bruckner’s Skull is a murky creation, inspired by the life-and-death obsessions of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, who reputedly kissed the exhumed skulls of Beethoven and Schubert when the composers’ remains were transferred between Viennese cemeteries.

Commissioned by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Bruckner’s Skull was premiered last year in Scotland and performed at the 2025 BBC Proms. This audacious creation dares to stare death directly in the face – now everyone has the chance to experience its uncanny power in this digital performance from the SCO, conducted by SCO Principal Conductor, Maxim Emelyanychev.

Bruckner’s Skull is available to view for FREE from Thursday, 12 February 2026 from 1930hr on the SCO’s YouTube channel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz_-6javLs8
