A fascinating analysis of Eugen Jochum's early recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 8
Katsutoshi Kubota is an independent researcher and archivist who lives in Tokyo. Like me, he once worked in radio. After retiring, he opened Café Ataraxia which, in addition to serving a variety of treats, is also a research-oriented listening space and archive specializing in historical recordings.

Mr. Kubota recently completed a full discographic analysis of the historic recording of Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 with the Hamburg State Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Eugen Jochum. The analysis includes matrix numbers, stamper codes, production chronology, and an audio transfer using historically reliable playback equipment.

He has graciously permitted me to share it with you.
