Bruckner 4th Analysis by Paul Douliez & Karl Richter | | | Click to enlarge | In the 1970's a company in Stuttgart released a series of LPs on the Opera label as part of their Europaeischer Phonoklub. The LPs featured performances licensed from other companies but they also featured a companion 7 inch (17 cm) 45 rpm disc that was attached to the LP sleeve in a form of marsupial pouch. Number 40 in this series was the Bruckner Symphony No. 4 and the producers used the East German recording with Franz Konwitschny and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The companion commentary disc contained an analysis by Prof. Paul Douliez and Dr. Karl Richter. The narration (in German) was done by Wolfgang Wendt. The recording is available below.
