January, 2023: Eugen Jochum rehearses Bruckner's Symphony No. 3 / DGG Recording

Click to enlarge In August of 1967, Eugen Jochum recorded Bruckner's Symphony No. 3 for his Deutsche Gramophon Bruckner cycle. At that time, the DGG engineers also recorded his rehearsal of the Adagio. This performance was released on a promotional LP (DGG 104 808) when the cycle was announced. This recording of the rehearsal was not included in any of DGG's releases of the Bruckner cycle (both LP and CD), but it was included when DGG released all of Jochum's orchestral recordings in a 42 CD boxed set (DGG 479 6314). It was also included when Tower Records Japan remastered the Bruckner cycle. The picture to the right is of the original promotional LP cover.
