Thomson, Virgil: A Bruckner Review

Thomson, Virgil: A Bruckner Review
Composer and critic, Virgil Thomson held the post of music critic for the New York Herald Tribune from 1940 to 1954. He was, in many ways, the arbitor of musical taste for people throughout the United States. Given his influence, his writings on Bruckner may be a key to the reception of Bruckner's music in America during his tenure as music critic. The review provided here was written in April of 1945.
