Kurt Masur Receives the Bruckner Society  Medal of Honor
After several delays, Maestro Kurt Masur was presented with the Julio Kilenyi Medal of Honor from the Bruckner Society of America. The presentation took place at a reception given at the conductor's home in Westchester County, New York on Monday, August 11, 2014.

Society Secretary John Berky made the presentation before an invited audience. Society Vice President, William Carragan was also on hand for the presentation.

Kurt Masur, born in 1927, has been the music director of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the National Orchestra of France. He recorded a complete Bruckner cycle in the 1970's for Ariola Eurodisc (with the Gewandhaus Orchestra), Symphonies 4 and 7 in 1993 (with the New York Philharmonic) for Teldec and a 1995 performance with the Israel Philharmonc was recently released on the orchestra's label.
