Newsletter - February 1, 2018

This is the LAST CALL for the special offers on the Rosbaud and Davies boxed sets. Each of those offers includes a special CD that I have included with the sets. As of Friday, February 7th, those offers will expire.

We are within a few people of having the required number needed for the 2018 Bruckner Tour of Austria to take place. This will be our third tour since 2012. If you have any intention of joining us, please let us know ASAP. Any hesitation could scrap the entire tour. The tour agency needs to have accurate numbers for the booking of rooms and accommodations in the Town of Saint Florian are limited - especially with the increasing popularity of the BrucknerTage Festival. Based on the experience of the 40+ people who have taken the past tours, you are certainly going to have a great time and will meet some very interesting people. You can sign up on the Contact Section of this website or by e-mailing me. Any direct questions about the tour can also be addressed to Daniela Steinocher in Vienna. Her e-mail is daniela@imperial-connection.at. You can view the full itinerary here. UPDATE: It looks like Bruckner scholar, William Carragan will be joining the tour!

Anyone who has obtained a copy of the Hun-Joung Lim Bruckner Symphony Cycle from Decca Korea, please check the timing of track 2 (the Scherzo) of the Symphony No. 9 (CD 10). If the actual timing of the track is 10'34", then you have a CD with an editing error. If the timing is 10'27", then you are OK. I have copies of the corrected CD. If you need one, please contact me.

A reminder that conductor, Gerd Schaller has kindly offered readers of this website exclusive access to the DVD video of his performance of the Symphony No. 9 from last summer's Ebrach Music Festival. This performance (with the Philharmonie Festiva) features the Symphony with the Finale completion as prepared by the conductor. This DVD is presently being sold exclusively at the Orchestra's concerts in Ebrach, Germany, so unless you plan on visiting Ebrach this summer, this is the only other place where you can obtain a copy. These DVDs are formatted for PAL TVs in Europe, but any DVD will play on your computer using standard DVD software. In addition, I can make copies in NTSC format for US DVD players upon request. Stocks are limited, so order yours soon.

FINAL THOUGHTS

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS SITE All the information provided on this site is available to you free-of-charge. But it is not free for me to get it to you. Recordings must be purchased as does the server space upon which this website is stored. We have provided two easy ways for you to support this venture. First is to purchase recordings in my web store and second is to make your regular purchases (of anything!) through my homepage web links to Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, ArkivMusic.com and JPC.de. Purchases will support the ongoing expenses of operating this website.

I strongly recommend a subscription to The Bruckner Journal. Dr. Michael Cucka is the editor of the Journal which encompasses essays, reviews and other features that are not covered here. The Bruckner Journal is issued three times per year. Please sign up!

Enjoy the website!
