As plans are slowly filtering in regarding the 2024 Bruckner bicentennial, another long-running project has just come to an end. Since 2008, the piano duo of Dino Sequi and Gerhard Hofer have been giving concerts on Bruckner's birthday at the Alte Dom (Old Cathedral) in Linz. Using the Rudolf Ibach and Sohn piano in the cathedral, the duo has performed piano four-hands transcriptions of Bruckner's Symphonies. The transcriptions were prepared back during Bruckner's lifetime by Joseph and Franz Schalk, Ferdinand Loewe, Gustav Mahler, Otto Singer and August Stradal. It was via these transcriptions that people were able to hear Bruckner's works since performances were rare at best and certainly no recordings were available. Over the years the Sequi/Hofer Duo have performed all nine numbered symphonies and this year they concluded the cycle with a recently uncovered transcription of the early Symphony in D Minor "Die Nullte." All the concerts were recorded and have been made available exclusively on this website. The final concert is now available and to celebrate the cycle's conclusion, a special boxed set of Symphonies 0-9 is now available.
