Hartford Courant reports on the 1937 Regensburg Speech
Recently, the Hartford (Connecticut) Courant newspaper allowed readers to search their archives. Naturally, I checked for listings of Anton Bruckner and was surprised to find the listing to the right which appears to be the earliest mention that the newspaper made of the composer. The Hartford Courant is the oldest continually published newspaper in the United States with the first edition being published in 1764.
The clipping covers the infamous Regensburg ceremony in June of 1937. Most of the article covers Hitler's speech but mention is made of Goebels' speech and the installation of Bruckner's bust at Valhalla. The article appeared in the June 7, 1937 edition.
