October, 2010: Symphony in D Minor / von Gelmini / Nuremberg Symphony
In 1975, one of the first stereo recordings of Bruckner's early Symphony in D Minor was released on the German Colosseum label and it featured a debut recording performance by Hortense von Gelmini (born 1947). The recording received good reviews and Colosseum released a few other recordings by her(Schubert & Roussel), but Colosseum's pressings have never been transferred to CD and have now become a rarity. The work and the recording must hold a special place for Ms. von Gelmini since the recording is prominently mentioned on her website (www.hortense-von-gelmini.de).
