Dover has finally released a volume containing the full scores for the Bruckner Sixth and Eighth symphonies. Interestingly (unlike their edition containing the full score for the Fourth and Seventh using the Haas versions), they cite the sources simply as 'authoritative editions'.
According to Benjamin Korstvedt, "The Sixth is a clean, clear facsimile of an attractive Peters edition of the first printed version of the symphony. It is probably good to have a copy of that version available. It is unfortunate, though, that this edition has no rehearsal letters or bar numbers.
The Eighth, on the other hand, is a distinctly poor reproduction of an early twentieth century edition. It is not the 1892 first edition published by Haslinger/Schlesinger/Lienau, nor is it the corrected Universal Edition score prepared by Josef V. von W ss, ca. 1927. Instead it looks to be based on an Eulenburg score derived from the 1892 edition. It even has the same indication for a cut in the Finale (from six bars after Kk to Pp) that appears in the 1892 edition. The Dover volume contains no prefatory material, no indication what editions these scores represent, nor any bibliographic information."
