A Bruckner Tour to Austria - August 2012
A Very Special Bruckner Tour of Austria

After my wonderful “pilgrimage” to Linz, St. Florian, Ansfelden and Ebrach, Germany last July, I have been busy working on a plan to prepare a Bruckner tour for all of you to share. A good part of my trip in July was spent talking to people about such a tour and since returning, I have been working with a highly recommended travel agency in Vienna to prepare an itinerary. The plan has reached a point of completion that it is now time to share it with you and to see if this is a tour that you would like to take with me.

The whole idea was to put together a tour that would bring you into Bruckner’s world while visiting some of the most beautiful and historic destinations in Austria. At the same time, we will visit other locations that will balance out the tour so that spouses will be entertained as well.

This is a perfect way to visit all the sites that you have read about – from Bruckner's birthplace to the small towns where he taught, to the cities where he composed his greatest works and to his final resting place and the relaxing atmosphere of St. Florian (Bruckner’s spiritual home) - and to do this with a group of people who share your interests and enthusiasm. It is also coordinated so that you can attend two Bruckner concerts at the BrucknerTage Festival held at St. Florian!

It will be important for us to gauge the response to this offer. We will need 20 people to sign up for this tour to take place, so if you are interested, please indicate your interest in joining us. If we do not have responses from 20 people, we will not proceed with other plans.

The tour is scheduled to take place from Saturday, August 11, 2012 to Wednesday, August 22nd (12 days/10 nights). The price for the tour is between 1,100 and 1,320 Euros per person – double occupancy (US$1,475 – 1,765) depending on how many sign up. This does NOT include airfare although the travel agency will work with you with these arrangements. The tour includes continental breakfasts each morning and five dinners. Special dietary arrangements are available. It should be noted that there are several walking tours involved.

An itinerary of the sites and activities that we have planned is below. You also have a link below to sign up for this tour. There is no obligation at this time, but we need to know if you are interested in joining us on this tour. We will then be in touch with you as plans develop further.
