This essay was prepared as a discussion piece for the 2010 East Coast Bruckerathon. The images to the right include a post card to comemmorate the 1937 "Day of German Art" and a medal designed by Karl Goetz to mark the occasion of Anton Bruckner's bust being placed in Valhalla. Both events are central to the points raised in this essay.
